1956 Orvis 99 Bamboo Fly Rod (Saltwater Combo)
Looking to chase some stripers on the Brewster flats? Maybe some drum down in Louisiana? Or even just some big streamers on the Madison for hungry brown trout. For sale is a 8'6'' for 7wt line Orvis model "99" bamboo rod with removable fighting butt and two tips. Rod was made in in 1956 George Reid and Kal Skinner of Orvis. Will fish an 8-6wt line very comfortably, and comes with a Wulff Triangle Taper clear intermediate line (recommended for the rod). Comes with a rod bag and original rod tube (though the cap for the rod tube is damaged). One tip is 1 short and there is a chip in the cork of the fighting but.
Other than those two, the rod is in immaculate condition. Reel is a 1970's Shakespeare Saltwater Purist HD 1898 reel. Comes with the original manuals and leather case.
